1. Status of the app
Dockie is in development (version 0.3.0) and is not yet available to download. This policy describes how that version behaves. It will be updated before the first public release, and the date at the top of this page will change when it is.
2. Information stored on your PC
The App keeps the following on your PC, in its own folder inside your Windows profile (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Dockie):
- Files and text you place on the shelf
- Clipboard history and the snippets you save
- The quick note
- Your settings, including any place you choose for weather
- A crash log, if the App stops unexpectedly
None of this is sent to me. Deleting that folder removes it.
3. Information I collect
I do not collect, store or receive any personal information through the App. It has no account, no sign-in, no backend server, no analytics or telemetry, and no advertising.
4. What is and is not encrypted
- Encrypted: clipboard history and snippets are encrypted on your PC with your Windows account.
- Not yet encrypted: text items on the shelf, the quick note and your settings are saved as ordinary files in your Windows profile. Anyone who can sign in to your Windows account, or read its files, can read them.
Do not keep passwords or other secrets on the shelf or in the quick note.
5. Internet access
The weather widget is the only feature that uses the internet. It is off until you choose a place. When it is on, the App requests the forecast for that place from a weather service. Nothing else in the App goes online.
6. File actions
File actions such as zipping, converting, resizing, compressing, merging and splitting PDFs, stripping metadata, watermarking, reading text with OCR and making QR codes all run on your PC. Your files are not uploaded. Video and audio conversion uses FFmpeg, a separate program that you install yourself.
7. This website
This section covers this website, not the App. The Dockie pages do not ask for your email address or any other details. If you write to me by email, I keep your message only to reply to it.
8. Your rights and data deletion
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA or India's DPDP Act), you may have rights over personal data held about you. The App sends me nothing, so the only data I could hold is an email you chose to send me. Contact me to see it or have it deleted.
9. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
