PANAM

Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 October 2026

This policy explains how the Android app “PANAM” (the “App”, package com.panam.app), developed and published by Syed Naazim Hussain (“I”, “me”), handles information. In short: everything you enter stays on your phone. The App has no account, no server, no ads and no analytics, and it does not have permission to use the internet. I never receive your data. By using the App you agree to this policy.

1. Information stored on your device

The App stores what you enter or import in its own private storage on your device. This includes:

  • Accounts and their balances, and credit and debit cards (a name, a card finish and the last 4 digits only; full card numbers are never entered or stored)
  • Subscriptions, expenses, income and transfers, with their amounts, dates, descriptions, notes and categories
  • Budgets, savings goals and exchange rates you type in
  • Logos you upload from your phone
  • Settings such as your home currency, reminder times and which alerts are switched on

This data is not sent to me or to anyone else. Android's own backup is switched off for the App, so it is not copied to your Google account either. The data is removed when you uninstall the App or clear its storage.

2. Information I collect

None. I do not collect, store or receive any personal or financial information. The App has no accounts, no sign-in, no backend server, no advertising, no analytics and no crash reporting.

3. No internet access

The App does not hold Android's internet permission, so it cannot connect to the internet at all. Insights, summaries, categories and reminders are worked out on your phone from what you have logged. Exchange rates are typed in by you rather than fetched, and the logos shown for common banks and services are built into the App rather than downloaded.

4. Permissions

The App asks for the following and nothing else:

  • Notifications: to show reminders for renewals and card bills, and the alerts you have switched on. These are created on your device.
  • Alarms & reminders: so the daily reminder check runs at the time you chose.
  • Run at startup: to schedule that check again after your phone restarts.

The App does not request access to your camera, photos, contacts, location, SMS or email. It does not read your messages.

5. Files, pictures and shared text

Information only reaches the App when you pick it or share it. This covers bank exports (CSV or JSON), PDF statements, backup files, text shared from another app, and pictures of receipts or payment screens.

  • Files and pictures are read on your phone. What was read is shown to you to check before anything is saved.
  • Text in pictures is read by a recogniser that ships inside the App (Google ML Kit text recognition, running on the device). Because the App has no internet access, neither the picture nor any usage report is sent to Google.
  • “Scan a receipt” opens your phone's own camera app, and “read a picture” opens the system photo picker. The App receives only the picture you take or choose. Your camera app and photo picker are covered by their own providers' policies.
  • If a PDF statement is locked, the password you type is used to read that file and is not kept.

6. Backups and exports

You can save a backup of everything in the App to a single file, in a location you choose with the system file picker, and you can share a monthly report as text. Once a file or report leaves the App it is in your hands: where you keep it and who you send it to is up to you, and any storage or messaging service you use is covered by that service's own policy.

A backup file is plain text and is not encrypted. Anyone who has the file can read your financial data in it, so keep it somewhere you trust.

7. Third parties

I do not sell or share your information, and the App sends nothing to any third party. The App is distributed through Google Play, which handles installation and updates and may collect its own information about your device and downloads under the Google Privacy Policy. That happens outside the App.

8. Security

Your data is kept in the App's private storage, which other apps cannot read on a normal, unmodified Android device. The App does not currently add its own encryption or an app lock, so anyone who can unlock your phone can open the App and see what is in it. Protect your phone with a screen lock. Because I do not collect any data, I hold none that could be exposed.

9. Children’s privacy

The App is a personal finance tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or under the applicable age of digital consent in your country). It does not collect personal information from anyone, children included.

10. Your rights and data deletion

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA or India's DPDP Act), you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal data. All of your data is on your own device and under your control: you can view and edit it in the App, export it with “Back up”, and delete it by removing entries, clearing the App's storage in Android settings, or uninstalling the App. I hold no copy, so there is nothing for me to provide or delete. If you have questions, contact me.

11. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. If a future version of the App changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated to say so.
